  Enterprise Voice Communication Network Package

Technology

The Enterprise Voice Communication package of Opto Telelinks Limited consists of pure Soft-Switch and VoIP Technologies to cater for the inter-office Voice communications using the existing VPN Network without spending any money on inter-office communications. The technology works in such a way that the existing PBX works in the same way but the subscriber doesn't know about how the voice goes and all the dialing plans remain same as that of standard phone system. In addition the advanced features of the end terminal provides LDAP in which all the names or extensions of persons can be stored so that each one can be called by their name. There is no limit on the number of names or extensions that can be stored in the electronic directory. All the inter-office calls will go through VPN Network and the intra-office calls will go through LAN, and the PSTN calls will go through the Gateway network in the iPBX. All the international calls will go through Internet through a reliable World carrier Network at very best prices. With this package the communications gets so affordable resulting in saving huge money.

The technology works as below.

  • The technology with iPBX is that the features of IP Phones on each desk is enabled and controlled centrally through the iPBX.
  • The configuration of all the IP phones can be done through the PBX itself saving huge time and the PBX can get registered each Subscriber by name.
  • One iPBX with license can suit all the office communications or we can distribute the PBXs for each office as per the requirement.
  • The PBX software license can sit on top of our Enterprise Gateways such as 4 Channel Basic Rate Gateway OOPU-4B, 8 Channel Basic Rate Gateway OOPU-8B or 10 Channel Primary Rate Gateway, 20 or 30 Channel Primary Rate Gateway - OCPU-1E. The soft-switch is built in to each system enabling the least cost routing as per the requirement of each Enterprise. Alternatively our iPBX can work with traditional PBXs as well. All our IP phones are with dual Ethernet switch built-in, so that you need not run separate cabling for each phone, saving lots of time and cabling costs. In addition all our IP phones work with DHCP and NAT if required.
  • All our IP phones can be remotely managed through web Interface or through SNMP.
  • IP calls to Global Vendors and customers at very economical prices.
  • All the IP phones can share the common or independent Directory as per the requirement of each case. The PBX and the Phones are designed so that the voice packets get the priority it is assigned to.

Cost Saving with the Concept of iPBX

With IPBX concept the cost savings will be huge as there is no separate bandwidth required for Voice separately, as the voice packets can traverse through the data packets with the priority it is assigned to. Let us take an example of Enterprise Network with Corporate office located in Germany and the Work Offices located in 5 different countries such as India, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and USA. With the Normal PSTN the average calling costs exceed around US$ 50,000. This costs including the inter-office calls as well as Global calls using standard or special prices with the PSTN. The above is with the assumption of 50-60% of the calls are inter-office and the remaining external. With the iPBX concept using the VoiP technology the same costs can be brought down to around US$ 7,500 per month which is a significant cost saving. The cost of long distance calls can be as much as 50% of what the special prices the Corporate get from the PSTN Carrier. In addition to the savings of the costs on the running calls there is huge amount of Annual maintenance costs that can be saved using iPBX, as it needs almost no maintenance like any VoIP System. All the controls can be done remotely using web interface and the Network Engineer can handle this very easily from his own location.

Replacement of traditional PBX with iPBX

If the enterprise wishes to replace the existing PBX with iPBX concept provided by us, it is very simple. Just install one IP phone on each Desk and the iPBX in any of the locations where the PSTN lines are coming. May be at the same location where the traditional PBX used to sit. The iPBX hardware along with the Soft-switch and the Gateway system offered by Opto Telelinks is just 1" height with either 19" Rack mount or simple desk mount with 7" width. The Telephone interface it offers is either Basic Rate or Primary Rate. Incase you have no Basic Rate Lines then we can offer an additional Analog Interface Unit which can accommodate 2, 4, 8 Analog lines. No external wiring is required. Each IP Phone on the desk has built-in 2 ports Switch that can be used to connect to the local PC and the Phone. The configurations can be controlled from the iPBX centrally. There can be a single iPBX centrally or decentralized PBX worldwide as per the policy of Corporate. The costs will be the same as the License is based on per subscriber.

Working with Existing PBX with Expansion using iPBX

In case the Enterprise customer wanted to use the existing PBX and still wanted to bypass the calls from PSTN network and expand the Network using iPBX to the new locations, then also we can propose the Network and it will work exactly similar to the above mentioned network, except that the features which are available in IP Phone will not be available in the standard phones connected to the standard PBX like the remote maintenance, Phone Directory, calling by names etc., Rest of all cost savings with the least cost routing can be done like that of the iPBX.

Reliability and Quality of VoIP Communications

Following points can be considered on the reliability of VoIP communications as compared to the traditional PSTN based EPABX concept.

  1. The VoIP communications used packet based technology traveling through internet to reach the destination, so there is no single point of failures can make the call to break or to have long outage time as is associated with traditional telephony.
  2. Efficiency of usage of Bandwidth associated with the VoIP Communications based on the standards.
  3. Near toll quality of speech using the proven codecs such as G.729 and G.723 with MOS as high as 3.6 to 4.
  4. Lost packet recovery, Dynamic Jitter buffer control, Voice activity Detection, Comfort Noise Generation etc features make this best mode of communications.
  5. Using Proven H.323 standards and with soft-switch technology with least cost routing.
  6. No Maintenance or hardware failures, which are associated with PBX technology.
