Centralized Calling Card Service Provider Package

The Centralized Calling Card concept is a new concept for the service providers from Opto Telelinks Limited.

Opto Telelinks Field team studied the market for the last few years using the PSTN based Calling Card and billing packages and their merits and demerits. Few years before most of the calling card service providers used to use the standard PSTN based routes which became non competitive over the period of time. So the service providers deployed the VoIP backbone systems for long distance telephony. This works OK from any PSTN based Calling card System. But there is a serious limitation in this technology when the service provider needs to expand the operations out of one country.

There are 2 ways to expand the calling card operation from more than one country. Either get the toll free Number from that country using another carrier and terminate the calls to the PSTN of the calling card switch or install a new calling card system in that country. Both the ways becomes expensive to implement, maintain the billing and de-centralized database and the running call costs.

So Opto Telelinks implemented the centralized calling card system, which can sit in any one of the centralized locations with centralized database for billing and calling cards. The centralized database also can play multilingual prompts with multiple partitions for multiple locations or multiple service providers. The calls can come from any location through the IP by eliminating the PSTN so the costs of A-leg will go down substantially and still provide all the services, as it is being available locally. The same Gateways can be used both inbound as well as outbound for originating and terminating calls to different destinations. Maintenance is so simple that it can be done in a single location or through the web interface. The Soft-switch is tightly bound with the billing system so that the least cost routing becomes part of the billing system itself for seamless operations. Besides the integration of soft-switch system, which is a RTOS (Real Times Operating System) based unit, makes the management and maintenance so easy.

Cost Saving with the Centralized Calling Card Concept

There is huge cost saving with Centralized calling card concept when operations are in more than One country. Even when the operations are based on one country the initial investment of the Equipment is much lower than the cost of initial investment required to install a PSTN based Calling card system. The maintenance of PSTN based calling card system is very high as compared to the IP based calling card system. Please see the table below for comparison of PSTN and IP based calling card systems. How the Technology works

The centralized calling Technology consists of the Real-time based Soft-switch, IVR system with IP technology, integrated billing and calling card system. Calls can come from any H.323 based Gateway using toll free numbers from any location, the IVR prompt is played using the CLI for any language. After the prompts are played the system sends the DTMF tones for authentication to the billing system, which authorizes the user and prompts to enter the destination number. Once the destination number is entered the soft-switch uses the least cost routing to send the calls using the IP.
